Sitting atop the UFC 264 card was, of course, the rubber match in the trilogy between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.
Yet while MMA’s biggest star was in action, the rest of the event was stacked, at least on paper. Gilbert Burns was up against Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in the co-main event, with the welterweight pair both looking to get back to the title. Tai Tuivasa was hoping to be the next man to stop former NFL star Greg Hardy. Sean O’Malley was set to open the PPV card, against short-notice newcomer Kris Moutinho, filling in for Louis Smolka.
Earlier on, Carlos Condit vs. Max Griffin was a fan-friendly featured prelim, flash Michel Pereira was in action, and so too was jiu-jitsu ace Ryan Hall.
Friday morning (local time, noon ET) saw the official weigh-ins take place. Cageside Press will be on hand to bring you the results — check below!
Only one fighter was heavy at Friday’s official weigh-in: Irene Aldana. The Mexican contender is looking to bounce back from a loss to Holly Holm last year, but coming in 3.5lbs over the non-title bantamweight limit won’t help her case. Aldana will be fined 30% of her purse, but her fight against Yana Kunitskaya will move forward.
