The main event of UFC Vegas 30 is a heavyweight showdown between the strongest up-and-comer in the division in Ciryl Gane and a veteran who has been at the top of Bellator in the past in Alexander Volkov. Gane is 8-0 in his career with wins over Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Junior dos Santos. Volkov has won three of his last four with stoppages against Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris. All but one writer picked Gane.
The co-main event is also in the heavyweight division, with Tanner Boser facing Ovince Saint Preux. Boser is coming in on a two-fight losing streak, dropping his UFC record to 3-3. OSP was 0-1 at heavyweight before moving back to light heavyweight last year and going 1-1. He’s now back up at heavyweight. OSP was picked by seven of 10 writers.
Raoni Barcelos finally returns to the cage against fellow prospect Timur Valiev. Barcelos won his first five fights in the Octagon before having three bouts fall through last year. Valiev is 1-1 in the UFC, but the loss was overturned. Barcelos was unanimously picked.
Andre Fili takes on Daniel Pineda in an intriguing featherweight bout. Fili has lost two of his last three while Pineda is 1-1 since returning to the UFC. All but two writers picked Fili.
An exciting scrap is expected when Nicolas Dalby faces Tim Means. Dalby is 2-1 since returning to the promotion after a stint in Cage Warriors, defeating Daniel Rodriguez last time out. Means is 2-0 since losing to Rodriguez last year. Dalby was picked by six of 10 writers.
Opening up the main card will be Renato Moicano and Jai Herbert. Moicano has slowed down since reaching contender status in the featherweight division, dropping three of his last four fights. Herbert was knocked out by Francisco Trinaldo in his lone UFC appearance last year. Moicano was unanimously picked.
