10 Mexican-Born Prospects the UFC Should Sign

Strawweight, Yasmine Jauregui (5-0)

Born and raised in the same area as UFC flyweight Champion Brandon Moreno, Tijuana, Mexico is where Jauregui calls home. Still very green, Yasmine Jauregui has really impressed in her career thus far. Her style is reminiscent of UFC fighter Maycee Barber in a few ways. Jauregui, a Mexican-born fighter, has competed for Combate Americas three times. Still residing in Mexico, in her last fight, she won the UWC strawweight title. Jauregui is still very young at only 22 so to think she’s even near her prime is silly. With tougher competition needed a year or two from now she could be primed for a UFC call-up.

Featherweight, Alejandro Flores (18-3)

Flores had the opportunity of a UFC contract last Summer on the Contender Series. He fell short, but losing so fast he never had a chance to show his skillset. Since then he’s gotten back on the board with a win and has another fight lined up that’s coming in a few days. If he does win the UFC should come calling. He’s 29-years-old and along with a good amount of fights he’s fought good competition. Flores is a distance fighter who relies on his excellent distance control. He’s very technical and his shot placement is spot on. Although he’s a talented striker he can wrestle as well. His losses reflect minor mistakes and not just him getting clearly beaten. Right now, Flores is UFC level.

Bantamweight, Luis Rodriguez (11-2)

Rodriguez was another one that was brought onto the Contender Series last year and fell short. In his defense when he fought Jerome Rivera, many thought he won that fight. Since that setback he got back on the board with a win. Rodriguez is back at featherweight too where he’s looked much better. He’s a polished compact striker that slings heavy leather. He’s definitely got knockout power in his hands and is very explosive. Rodrigez was arguably brought on to the Contender Series too early and with a little more seasoning he’ll be ready for the UFC.
