UFC Vegas 27 delivered with plenty of action, big finishes and close fights. When all was said and done, there was plenty of carnage left in the wake. In total, there were 7 fighters who face the maximum layoff typically handed down by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Headlining those long layoffs was the headliner of the card, Rob Font. Despite walking away victorious with the biggest win of his career, a 5-round decision over former champion Cody Garbrandt, Font still faces six months off. During the fight, Font appeared to take damage to his leg and will need x-rays on a number of different parts of it.
Among the other notable 180 day suspensions on the UFC Vegas 27 card was Bruno Silva. Silva picked up the win over Victor Roidriguez in a big way. For his second straight fight, which just so happened to be his second fight since joining Fight Ready MMA, Silva knocked his opponent out. This time, the KO took just one minute to materialize and granted Silva an extra 50k of pocket change for his troubles. Those troubles includes some damage sustained to his right hand. Upon seeing the swelling go down, he’ll hand an x-ray to determine the extent of that injury, which could possibly see him on the shelf for 6 months.
These two, and all other 180 day medical suspensions, can be shortened with the clearance of the appropriate medical professional.
