A pair of surging UFC featherweights will collide in a pivotal match-up in August.
Ken Wong of The Warriors Voice was first to report that Lerone Murphy will fight Charles Jourdain on August 14 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. A source close to the situation subsequently confirmed the booking to Cageside Press.
Murphy (10-0-1) has been perfect inside the UFC, aside from a split draw in his UFC debut. “The Miracle” got his first UFC finish last year on ‘Fight Island’ when he defeated Ricardo Ramos via first-round TKO. He would return to ‘Fight Island’ earlier this year in January and defeat Douglas Silva de Andrade via unanimous decision.
After a disappointing 2020 which saw Jourdain (11-3-1) lose a split decision to Andre Fili and then fight to a split draw against Joshua Culibao on ‘Fight Island,’ the young Canadian got back into the win column in March. He defeated Marcelo Rojo in an absolute classic, which got robbed for ‘Fight of the Night.’
The winner of Murphy vs. Jourdain could most certainly get in the featherweight top 15 rankings.
No location, venue, or broadcast details have yet to be announced by the promotion for UFC’s August 14 event. There are rumors that August 14 will be the UFC’s return to London.
