David Dvorak entered the UFC Vegas 27 Fight Week prepared to face Raulian Paiva in a flyweight bout. He made it all the way to Friday’s official weigh-in keeping the focus on Paiva — only to see Paiva forced off the card due to a rough weight cut. Well, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry, and instead of Paiva, Dvorak now meets Juancamilo Ronderos on Saturday night.
Ronderos, will all of four pro fights to his name, gets credit for taking the fight on all of a day’s notice, despite missing weight. But the experience mismatch was plain as day on paper.
Both fighters got at it right away, throwing with a lot of output. Ronderos quickly found his range and was sticking Ronderos on the outside. Ronderos was trying to blitz his way in but to no avail. On an attempted shot from Ronderos, however, Dvorak sprawled and took the back, sunk in the rear-naked choke, and got the tap.

More impressively, he didn’t have the choke fully locked in — making the finish a one-armed rear-naked choke. Which should be up there for a Performance of the Night bonus.
Official Result: David Dvorak def. Juancamilo Ronderos by submission (rear-naked choke), Round 1, 2:18
