A pair of top 10 bantamweights are set to collide at UFC 265 in what should be nothing less fireworks.
Combate was the first to report the news that former featherweight champion and No. 5 ranked bantamweight Jose Aldo will fight No. 8 Pedro Munhoz at UFC 265 on August 7.
Aldo (29-7) got back in the win column last December at UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Neal. He defeated Marlon Vera via a unanimous decision. The victory would snap the first three-fight losing streak of his career. The losses were to current featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, former bantamweight champion Petr Yan, and Marlon Moraes – a fight that many media members thought Aldo won.
Munhoz (19-5-1) also got back into the win column after losing two straight for the first time in his career. Earlier this year at UFC Fight Night: Rozenstruik vs. Gane, Munhoz would exact his revenge against Jimmie Rivera by defeating him via unanimous decision in their rematch from 2015. They both were awarded Fight of the Night and are front runners for Fight of the Year so far.
UFC 265 does not have an official location or venue announced currently. The card as it stands looks like this:
- Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena – for the UFC women’s bantamweight title
- Uriah Hall vs. Sean Strickland
- Jose Aldo vs. Pedro Munhoz
- Johnny Muñoz Jr. vs. Jamey Simmons
- Drako Rodriguez vs. Vince Morales
