A pair of featherweights have been added to UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs. Dillashaw this summer.
MMA Junkie was the first to report the news that long-time UFC veteran Darren Elkins will fight Darrick Minner on July 24. Both fighters would confirm the match-up on social media.
Elkins (25-9) got a much-needed win with his back completely against the wall last year in November at UFC on ESPN: Santos vs. Teixeira. He defeated Luiz Eduardo Garagorri via third-round submission and gave him his walking papers in the process. The win snapped a four-fight losing streak in which he lost to featherweight Alexander Volkanovski, Ricardo Lamas, Ryan Hall, and Nate Landwehr.
After losing his UFC debut to Grant Dawson, Minner (26-11) has gone on a two-fight win streak. He got his first UFC win in September as he submitted T.J. Laramie in 32 seconds. In his most recent win, he completely dominated Charles Rosa in February to win a unanimous decision.
The UFC’s July 24 event does not have an official location, venue, or broadcast plan announced. The following bouts have been reported for the Fight Night card:
- Cory Sandhagen vs. T.J. Dillashaw
- Aspen Ladd vs. Macy Chiasson
- Maycee Barber vs. Miranda Maverick
