UFC Vegas 26 has been a cursed card the past few days, dropping two bouts at Friday’s weigh-in alone. That’s after previously losing both its main event (Dillashaw vs. Sandhagen) and one half of the co-main (Diego Sanchez). And the “hits” just keep on coming, with Amanda Ribas vs. Angela Hill the latest casualty.
MMA Fighting was first to report the news late Saturday afternoon. UFC officials later confirmed the development.
No official reason has been given for Ribas vs. Hill falling off the event. However, MMA Fighting later reported that Ribas had tested positive for COVID-19.
The key strawweight battle had been expected to kick off the UFC Vegas 26 main card on Saturday. And unlike the evening’s main event, the pair of strawweights involved were actually fighting at 115lbs. The bout saw Amanda Ribas (10-2) looking to bounce back from a loss to Marina Rodriguez, while Hill (13-9) was looking to build off a recent win over Ashley Yoder.
The UFC Vegas 26 (UFC on ESPN 24) card now moves forward with nine fights.
Marina Rodriguez vs. Michelle Waterson
Donald Cerrone vs. Alex Morono
Neil Magny vs. Geoff Neal
Marcos Rogério de Lima vs. Maurice Greene
Carlos Diego Ferreira vs. Gregor Gillespie
Phil Hawes vs. Kyle Daukaus
Ľudovít Klein vs. Michael Trizano
Jun Yong Park vs. Tafon Nchukwi
Christian Aguilera vs. Carlston Harris
