A pair of UFC middleweights will throw down in August.
Makhmud Muradov recently announced on social media that he will be fighting Gerald Meerschaert on August 28 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. Meerschaert would confirm the news on his Instagram Story.
Muradov (25-6) has been perfect in the promotion, winning all three of his fights decisively. The Tajikistan fighter is riding a 14-fight winning streak dating back to 2017. He was scheduled to fight four times in 2020 but ended up not fighting at all due to travel restrictions, injuries, and a positive COVID test. Muradov finally returned to action on “Fight Island” at UFC 257 in January, where he defeated Andrew Sanchez via TKO in the third round.
After having a very disappointing 2020, Meerschaert (32-14) got back in the win column with a much-needed victory over Bartosz Fabinski last month at UFC on ESPN: Whittaker vs. Gastelum. He submitted Fabinski in the first round earning Performance of the Night and also earning the most submission wins in UFC middleweight history.
No location, venue, or broadcast details have yet to be announced by the promotion for UFC’s August 28 event. The only other fight that has been reported outside of Meerschaert vs. Muradov has been Ketlen Vieira vs. Sara McMann.
