A pair of bantamweights will look to get back on track at UFC 265 in August.
MMA Junkie was the first to report the news that Vince Morales will fight Drako Rodriguez at the PPV event on August 7. Sources subsequently confirmed the fight to Cageside Press.
Morales (9-5) will be looking to snap the first losing streak of his career. In his only fight of 2020, he was finished with leg kicks at UFC on ESPN: Woodley vs. Burns by Chris Gutierrez. Morales would tear his Achilles in August and be sidelined the rest of the year, rehabbing his injury. “Vandetta” will most likely be fighting for his job in August as well.
After winning a UFC contract on season four of Dana White’s Contender Series, Rodriguez (7-2) made his UFC debut in February at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Lewis. He would lose to Aiemann Zahabi via knockout in the first round. The loss to Zahabi would snap his three-fight winning streak. Rodriguez fought most of her career in the promotion King of the Cage.
No location, venue, or broadcast details have yet to be announced by the promotion for UFC 265. The August pay-per-view is expected to be headlined by Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena.
UFC 265 currently looks like this:
- Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena – for the UFC women’s bantamweight title
- Drako Rodriguez vs. Vince Morales
