The Top Turtle Podcast is back this week, with two of the key players from UFC Vegas 25. Plus a look back at the stellar UFC 261 card from last weekend.
Dustin Jacoby Interview (2:14)
Eight months ago, Dustin Jacoby was on the outside looking in. Nearly a decade removed from when the UFC released him from his contract he was getting a second crack with a shot on the Contender Series. After making good on that, he’s run a win streak up to four and is knocking at the door of the top 15 in the light heavyweight division. He stopped by to discuss his feelings about that journey and what it means for his career as a whole. Plus, he runs down how he was offered a short notice fight with Ion Cutelaba and how he sees that fight going.
“Fights, Dogs, and Parlays” for UFC Vegas 25 (26:34)
Shockwave and Gumby are always giving you the goods for each and every card. Last weekend saw some crazy results, so they try to make heads or tails of that while telling you what you need to know about this weekend’s card. The light heavyweight tilt at the top of the card has all the makings of a banger, and Gumby has a play for who he thinks can win (and maybe even a prop to go with it).
Giga Chikadze Interview (39:31)
After the UFC dropped a couple people from the featherweight rankings this week, Giga Chikadze popped into the rankings at #14. However, he talks about the frustrations of trying to get anyone in those rankings to fight him. He lists off a bunch of names he was offered and laments on not being able to get those fights done. Even though he didn’t get those, he is enthused about a bout with Cub Swanson, who he notes is one of the biggest names in the division. He’s ready to stake his claim to a top 10 spot with a violent win this weekend.
