Ahead of UFC 261, Randy Brown had likened opponent Alex Oliveira to a cornered animal.
Brazil’s “Cowboy” Oliveira was entering his 20th UFC fight on Saturday. But his back was indeed against the wall, having lost four out of the last six fights. Brown himself was 3-2 in his last five, but coming off a loss to Vicente Luque.
Regardless of the record, the welterweight match-up screamed fireworks. It delivered, for as long as it lasted.
Both fighters took the center of the octagon quickly. Brown opened up with a punch and low kick, which Oliveira answered with another low kick. Both fighters then threw a front kick, but Brown’s landed low. Another low kick hurt Brown. Brown recovered, and landed a monster right hand that dropped Oliveira. Sensing a finish, Brown followed him to the ground with ground and pound. Oliveira survived and but Brown took his back. Oliveira got to his feet, but Brown jumped on his back. Brown slapped on a rear-naked choke with one arm, and Oliveira was forced to tap. There was a little trash talk as Brown got up, but otherwise, it was a beautiful performance.
RUDE BOY.

Brown got back in the win column with the submission, and should get another big name in his next fight. The man is must-watch television.
Oliveria has now dropped two fights back-to-back for the second time in his career – both first-round submissions.
