Bellator MMA fans will have to wait a few extra weeks to see fan favorite Valerie Loureda back in action. Originally scheduled to fight Hannah Guy at Bellator 258, the bout has now been pushed back. Veteran MMA journalist James Lynch first reported the date change, which was confirmed by Loureda herself on social media. She will now be fighting at Bellator 259 on May 21, two weeks out from the original date.
Loureda has not competed since defeated Tara Graff by knockout in the summer of 2020. The American Top Team product is also currently ranked in the top 10 of the flyweight division for Bellator.
Loureda rose to fame quickly for her in-cage dancing and social media presence, as well as for rattling off three straight wins under the Bellator MMA banner.
Opponent Hannah Guy is 2-1 as a professional, with her lone career loss coming at the hands of Loureda’s training partner, Kayla Hracho. It was a split decision defeat for Guy. This will be Guy’s first bout of 2021, having last competed in August of 2020. The fight with Loureda will be her Bellator promotional debut.
Bellator 259 is headlined by a women’s featherweight title fight between champ Cris Cybrorg and Leslie Smith. That fight is a rematch of their 2016 140lb catchweight bout, which Cyborg won via knockout.
