The full card for Invicta FC’s debut on AXS TV has been announced, and it includes not one but two title fights.
On Wednesday, Invicta officials announced the line-up via press release, following an initial report on the title fight double-header by MMA Junkie.
Atop the card, a flyweight title fight will see Karina Rodriguez go up against Daiana Torquato, with the vacant belt hanging in the balance. For Rodriguez, it’s a shot at redemption. In her last bout, at Invicta FC 38 in November 2019, she missed weight for a title bid against Vanessa Porto, resulting in the fight becoming a non-title affair. To add insult to injury, the Mexican fighter lost the bout, falling to 8-4.
Torquato (10-3) is coming off a win outside of Invicta, but previously competed in the promotion’s single night Phoenix Series II tournament.
The co-main event will see the previously announced atomweight title fight between Alesha Zappitella and Jessica Delboni go down. Zapitella (8-2) won the title in her last outing, against Ashley Cummins. Delboni (10-2) was last seen picking up a win over Herica Tiburcio last September, in a strawweight bout.
Invicta on AXS TV takes place May 21, 2021 in Kansas City, Kansas, airing live on AXS TV, and Fight Network in Canada. The full card breaks down as follows:
