Another Canadian will make the trip to Las Vegas for Dana White’s Contender Series this year.
On Sunday, Cageside Press confirmed with a source close to the situation that Jasmine Jasudavicius (5-1) will face Julia Polastri on the show, with the expected date being September 14. MMA Empire was first to report the news.
The date will see her fighting just a few weeks before Niagara Top Team teammate Aaron Jeffery, whose second Contender Series appearance will come on September 28.
Jasudavicius is one of the top female prospects out of Canada, and will enter the fight coming off a win under the Cage Fury FC banner in March. That bout saw her earn a unanimous decision over Ashley Deen. One fight prior, she had dropped to strawweight, losing a title bid for the vacant 115lb CFFC belt to Elise Reed by split decision.
The Contender Series showdown with Polastri, however, will be at flyweight.
Polastri, meanwhile, has won six straight, including a victory over Invicta FC alum Jessica Delboni. The Brazilian is the Shooto Brazil women’s strawweight champion, and impressively has finished her last three opponents.
No other fights have been reported for the September 14 Contender Series card, which is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
