Phil Davis was set for another crack at both Vadim Nemkov and gold at Bellator 257 on Friday.
The former Bellator MMA light heavyweight champion had won the belt in 2015, finding immediate success upon his arrival in Bellator after a lengthy (and also successful) stint in the UFC. But just one fight later, Davis lost the belt to Ryan Bader, then another big free agent signing by the company.
Davis has now worked his way back to a shot at gold, and it comes in the opening round of the promotion’s light heavyweight grand prix. Nemkov, who defeated Davis by split decision in 2018, now holds the belt, after knocking out Bader last year.
Weigh-ins for the event go down Thursday, with the ceremonial weigh-in streaming live at 1PM ET. Video can be found above, full results below.
