Julian Marquez let his hands go in the second round of his fight against Sam Alvey at UFC Vegas 23, knocking down then submitting his opponent.

Going up against short-notice replacement and noted Miley Cyrus fan Julian Marquez, Alvey found himself winless in five straight fights, coming off a draw after going 0-4 previously. Being a popular figure in the UFC had given Alvey an extra life after the draw, which arguably could have been a win for him, but it was do-or-die against Marquez.

Alvey nearly connected on a hard hook two minutes into the fight. Alvey was loading up on every punch. Marquez connected on a right punch that really hurt Alvey and dropped him to his knees.
