It’s not the fight Marvin Vettori was looking for, but he still has his main event spot this Saturday at UFC Vegas 23.
Vettori seems to have had a heck of a time getting fights locked in over the past year. Within a little over 12 months, bouts with Darren Stewart, Karl Roberson (twice before it finally went down), Jacare Souza, Omari Akhmedov, and now Darren Till have fallen through. The Till fight was to top this weekend’s return to ABC; instead, Vettori will take on Kevin Holland, who steps in to save the day just weeks removed from his loss to Derek Brunson.
That makes the fight interesting, though perhaps not as interesting as the fight with Till would have been. And it has certainly changed the stakes for Vettori. Nevertheless, a fun middleweight scrap would appear to await UFC fans.
