Top-ranked UFC bantamweight Aspen Ladd will be making her return to action for the first time in over a year when she meets Macy Chiasson on July 24.
Top bantamweight prospect Aspen Ladd will be making her long-waited return when she takes on The Ultimate Fighter Season 28 winner Macy Chiasson on July 24. Brett Okamoto of ESPN was first to report the news.
Ladd, 26, is looking to reassert herself in the bantamweight title picture after tearing her ACL and MCL last year. A young prospect who went a perfect 5-0 in Invicta, Ladd’s success carried over to the UFC when she made her debut in the promotion in 2017 and recorded victories over Lina Lansberg, Tonya Evinger, and Sijara Eubanks. After coming up short in a title-eliminator against Germaine de Randamie, Ladd bounced back with a victory over current contender Yana Kunitskaya in December of 2019. Ladd was set to fight Julianna Pena last March before an injury removed Pena from the bout. Ladd would be later scheduled to face Sara McMann in June before her injuries removed her from the bout.
Chiasson, 29, is best known for winning Season 28 of The Ultimate Fighter as a featherweight when she defeated Pannie Kianzad in the final in 2018. Chiasson immediately dropped to bantamweight following the show and went on a 4-1 run. Most recently, she returned from more than a year long layoff to defeat Marion Reneau last month.
No location or main event has been announced for July 24. It is expected to be a Fight Night event as the promotion has already booked a pay-per-view for July 10.
