Adrian Yanez has exploded onto the UFC scene since his Dana White’s Contender Series victory last year. The Houston native has finished both of his opponents inside the octagon, including the recent Performance of the Night bonus-winning KO of Gustavo Lopez just a few weeks ago. If Yanez has it his way, he will be on the UFC 262 card in Houston, which will be allowing full attendance for fans. Which, if it happens, means that for the first time in his UFC career, Yanez will hear the rowdy crowd.
“100% I’m asking for it,” Yanez told Cageside Press recently. “Literally chopping at the block just to get it, I want that May 15th card. If someone gets hurt, I’m there or if they give me a fight right now which I hope they do,” Yanez laughed. “I’d have a staycation, I haven’t had that in my UFC career, I want the crowd. I want the full UFC experience.”
Recently, I took to twitter to play matchmaker, and pit Reese’s and Dr. Pepper fans against each other. For those unaware, Randy Costa has made it well known he loves a full bag of Reese’s post-fight (i.e. UFC Boston). Yanez has a similar love, and is looking for the Dr. Pepper sponsorship to come to fruition. One backed by fans online.
“I love the social media love that I’m getting, but I know at the same time, all that can flip outside down. I’m walking very carefully on it. I really don’t hold too much weight on the social media aspect,” admitted Yanez, who continued that “I do love getting the recognition I’m getting now, but I know it could all be gone away with one weird loss. It doesn’t even have to be a big loss, and everyone can turn on you, but I love it while it is here.”
“Right now, I have a whole twitter movement trying to get me a Dr. Pepper sponsorship,” he added. “I’m behind it. If they pull through on this one, I swear I’m doing a giveaway.”
