A pair of UFC featherweights will collide in April when Bill Algeo takes on Brazil’s Ricardo Ramos.
First reported by MMA Junkie, Algeo and Ramos will fight on April 17, which is expected to be headlined by Kelvin Gastelum vs. Robert Whittaker. Algeo later confirmed the news on social media.
Ramos (14-3) was supposed to fight last week at UFC Vegas 21, but the UFC could not find a replacement after his opponent withdrew from the fight. The Brazilian was recently finished by Lerone Murphy at UFC Fight Island 1 in July 2020, which snapped his two-fight win streak. He had previously defeated Journey Newson and Luiz Eduardo Garagorri – the latter earned him a Performance of the Night.
Algeo (14-5) has thoroughly impressed in his first two UFC fights. He went to war with Ricardo Lamas at UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Rakić, which earned them Fight of the Night; Algeo would lose the unanimous decision. “Senor Perfecto” would rebound three months later by dominating Spike Carlyle, giving him his walking papers, and sending him out of the UFC.
The UFC’s April 17 event has no official venue or location announced but is widely expected to occur at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card currently breaks down as follows:
- Robert Whittaker vs. Kelvin Gastelum
- Gerald Meerschaert vs. Bartosz Fabinski
- Chase Sherman vs. Parker Porter
- Justine Kish vs. Tracy Cortez
- Tony Gravely vs. Nate Maness
- Natan Levy vs. Austin Hubbard
- Drakkar Klose vs. Jeremy Stephens
- Luis Peña vs. Alexander Munoz
- Bill Algeo vs. Ricardo Ramos
