Canada’s Hakeem Dawodu has his next challenge set.
On Monday, MMA DNA was first to report that “Mean” Hakeem, fighting out of Calgary, Alberta, had been matched up with the undefeated Movsar Evloev at UFC 263.
Dawodu (12-1-1) has won five straight bouts, putting him at 5-1 in the UFC overall to date. The featherweight fighter joined the promotion in 2018 with a full head of steam following a strong run in the WSOF. After suffering his first career loss in his octagon debut opposite Danny Henry, Dawodu has turned things around nicely. His last appearance, in September, saw him earn a split decision win against Zubaira Tukhugov.
Evloev (14-0) has won all four of his bouts inside the octagon to date. More importantly, he’s won all of his bouts to date, period. In fact, the only real knock on Movsar Evloev since his arrival to the UFC in 2019 is that the former M-1 bantamweight champion has been unable to find a finish. However, four wins in four fights up a weight class (and one of those technically coming at 150lbs) has many expecting big things from the Russian fighter.
UFC 263 takes place June 12, 2021. No official location, venue, or broadcast plans have been announced by the promotion for the show. The following fights have been reported for the event thus far:
Deiveson Figueiredo (c) vs Brandon Moreno – for the UFC flyweight championship
Carlos Felipe vs. Jake Collier
Luigi Vendramini vs. Fares Ziam
Movsar Evloev vs. Hakeem Dawodu
