The UFC has revealed the official poster for its upcoming UFC 260 PPV event — along with a slogan for the headliner.
The second PPV of March, UFC 260 is set to be headlined by a heavyweight title fight featuring champ Stipe Miocic taking on Francis Ngannou for the second time. Given the main event rematch, the UFC has added a little slogan, labeling the fight the “biggest, baddest rematch.” Of them all, one would assume.
Miocic (20-3) won the pair’s first encounter in 2018 at UFC 220. That record-setting occasion saw the champ weather Ngannou’s early, explosive power punches before relying on superior wrestling and grappling to win a five-round unanimous decision. In the process, Miocic set a UFC record for most consecutive title defenses in the heavyweight division, with three.
Since that fight, Miocic has fought just one man: Daniel Cormier. Albeit three times. Cormier knocked out Miocic to win the belt following the Ngannou fight, only for Miocic to claim victory in the pair’s next two encounters. Having won the trilogy with DC, Miocic is now able to resume taking on all-comers in the UFC heavyweight division.
Ngannou (15-3), meanwhile, has won four straight. After the first meeting with Miocic, he lost a lackluster decision to Derrick Lewis in a fight widely derided for its lack of activity. However, “The Predator” bounced back with four straight finishes against Curtus Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, Junior Dos Santos, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
UFC 260 takes place March 27, 2021 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The co-main event features Alexander Volkanovski defending his featherweight title opposite Brian Ortega.
