Mayra Bueno Silva will look to make it two in a row at UFC Vegas 20, as she takes on former TUF 26 competitor Montana De La Rosa.
It’s a fight, Silva revealed, that was originally proposed for January. But “Montana changed this fight.” Speaking at the UFC Vegas 20 virtual media day this week, the Brazilian also reflected on the match-up, and her return to Las Vegas.
Silva won her way into the UFC as part of Dana White’s Contender Series Brazil in 2018. But despite the “Brazil” label, the show was actually taped at the UFC Apex. In fact, this is “my third time in Vegas,” Silva pointed out. “Contenders [Series] was here.” Las Vegas was also the site of her last victory, in September, when Mayra Bueno Silva defeated Mara Romero Borella via arm-bar at UFC Vegas 11.
As she turns her focus to De La Rosa, Silva appears to be anticipating a battle on the ground. “I like the style of Montana a lot. Because Montana has good grappling.” Grappling is very much her thing, Silva added. There was one more thing for Silva to point out, however. “My grappling is better than Montana’s.”
She also had a prediction to make. “I’m very happy for this fight. Montana has courage, I have courage too. I think this fight is a Fight of the Night on Saturday.” Silva added that she doesn’t just think, but knows that “Saturday will be my best performance.”
