His rivalry with Magomed Ankalaev now in the past, Ion Cutelaba has a new foe to face: Devin Clark.
The light heavyweight pair are expected to compete at the UFC’s Fight Night card on May 1. MMA DNA was first to report the news. Cutelaba confirmed the bout via social media on Wednesday.
Moldova’s Cutelaba (15-6, 1NC) went up against Ankalaev in his last two fights. A controversial stoppage at UFC Norfolk in early 2020 led to a rematch, one that was postponed several times due to COVID-19. When it finally arrived at UFC 254, the result was the same — Cutelaba was finished by the Dagestani fighter.
He’ll now look to bounce back against Devin Clark (12-5). The 30-year old South Dakota native had put together a couple of wins, but saw that run snapped in a loss to former title contender Anthony Smith back in November. Clark, a former RFA light heavyweight champ, started his UFC run at middleweight but quickly returned to 205lbs. Overall, he sports a record of 6-5 inside the octagon.
The UFC’s May 1 event does not have an official venue, location, or broadcast details announced. The following bouts have been reported for the card to date:
