Lots of violence went down on Fight Island this past Wednesday, but although there were plenty of bouts the usual lengthy suspensions were few and far between. Twenty-eight fighters in total took to the cage and just two will be faced with the typical maximum of 180 days on the shelf.
The first of such suspensions comes from the first fight of the morning. Victoria Leonardo made her UFC debut after a dominant performance on the Contender Series over Chelsea Hackett. Her first bout on the big stage didn’t go quite as well, as she lost by TKO to tough French prospect Manon Fiorot. In the process, it seems like one of the many kicks of Fiorot may have broken the right forearm of Leonardo. She’ll need x-rays to confirm said break and then a clean x-ray in the future to lessen that six month suspension.
While Mike Davis had a much better time in the cage this week than Leonardo, he’ll be facing the same suspension. Not only did Davis pick up a win for his efforts against Mason Jones, but he scored a sweet 50k for fight of the night as well. During the battle, it appears that Davis injured his thumb, likely during a punch. His left thumb will need to be cleared by an x-ray or it will be half a year before he’ll be able to build on this momentum.
