The UFC’s January 20 card — that’s UFC Fight Island 8, or UFC on ESPN 20, for those keeping track — has another addition.
In featherweight action, England’s Lerone Murphy (9-0-1) will thrown down with Brazil’s Douglas Silva de Andrade. MMA Fighting was first to report the booking, which was confirmed in a UFC press release earlier this week.
For Murphy, who remains undefeated with only a draw blemishing his otherwise perfect record, it will be his first bout since a July TKO finish of Ricard Ramos. That bout also came on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.
Andrade (26-3, 1NC), meanwhile, will be making his first appearance since 2019, when he defeated former bantamweight champ Renan Barao. The Brazilian had been expected to compete last March against Movsar Evloev, but that fight fell through with Andrade was forced to withdraw.
The UFC’s January 20 event, the middle of three Abu Dhabi-based cards for the promotion this month, will air on ESPN, and currently features the following line-up:
Michael Chiesa vs. Neil Magny
Warlley Alves vs. Mounir Lazzez
Isaac Villanueva vs. Vinicius Moreira
Roxanne Modafferi vs. Viviane Araújo
Lerone Murphy vs. Douglas Silva de Andrade
Ricky Simon vs. Gaetano Pirello
Su Mudaerji vs. Zarrukh Adashev
Dalcha Lungiambula vs. Markus Perez
Francisco Figueiredo vs. Jerome Rivera
Mike Davis vs. Mason Jones
Matt Schnell vs. Tyson Nam
Victoria Leonardo vs. Manon Fiorot
