Since Tecia Torres’s initial second bout with Angela Hill fell off due to Hill testing positive for COVID-19, Tecia Torres vs. Sam Hughes has been added to UFC 256 on short notice. A promotional newcomer, Hughes will make her debut against “The Tiny Tornado,” a tough and savvy veteran.
My hands are ready for battle 👊🏽🌪 #TeamTiny Sadly, Angela tested positive for Covid-19 so our fight has been cancelled. I wish her a healthy recovery. A replacement was found. I am thankful to have a fight. Different Opponent, Same Vision. #UFC256 📸: @secondwindcreative pic.twitter.com/CBoyVXdieq

Best Fight Picks was first to report Hughes involvement in the fight.
In her last fight, an emphatic win at LFA 93: Petroski vs. Jeffery, Hughes (5-1) put on a dominant performance. Hughes made quick work of Danielle Hindley, finishing her by rear naked choke in the first round. Fighting out of Catalyst MMA with head coach Eddie Grant, Hughes would appear to be a tough out for any strawweight.
UFC veteran Torres (11-5) will look to solidify her standing with the division at UFC 256. The “Tiny Tornado” always brings a furious pace to the cage. A primary advantage she may enter the cage with is her conditioning. Since she has been training for a cardio machine like Hill, she has likely been pushing the pace harder than Hughes, who is taking the fight on a week’s notice.
With Torres coming off decision win over the extremely durable and dangerous Brianna Van Buren, the crafty veteran finally has momentum heading into the cage.
