The Zohan looking for another exciting bout after back-to-back wins.
As first reported by MMAjunkie, Randy Costa vs. Trevin Jones has been added to UFC 259 in March of 2021. Costa is currently 6-1 (2-1 in UFC), while Jones stands at 12-6 (1 NC in UFC).
Bantamweight Costa is coming off his most impressive win to date. Following his first UFC victory in his backyard of the TD Garden (Boston, MA) against Boston Salmon, Costa again finished early, this time via highlight reel head kick. Costa took out Journey Newsome in his sixth victory; all six of his wins have not gone further than the very first round.
The Joe Lauzon product out of Taunton, Massachusetts has been training at American Top Team while Lauzon’s MMA is under strict restrictions in Massachusetts during the ongoing pandemic. The 26-year old is looking to make it three victories in a row, and as he put it, expect fireworks in this one.
Costa’s dance partner at UFC 259 is, as noted, Trevin Jones. Jones, a 30 year old out of Vida BJJ in Guam, is searching for his first “official” UFC victory. Jones had a monstrous comeback against Timur Valiev in his debut, and had his hand raised. Although a victor, the fight goes down as a NC due to the NSAC finding Jones tested positive for marijuana use. With six split decisions on his record, and numerous submission victories, it is clear Jones may attempt to take this to deep waters, something none of Costa’s previous opponents have been able to do thanks Costa’s pressure and style.
UFC 259 is expected to take place on March 6, 2021 at a location yet to be announced.
