The UFC’s final card of November put the spotlight on the heavyweights. UFC Vegas 15 — or, if you prefer, UFC on ESPN 18 — was topped by Curtis Blaydes vs. Derrick Lewis. It had all the markings of a heavyweight title eliminator, until the reality of Francis Ngannou getting the next title shot set in. And the understanding that Blaydes had already lost to “The Predator” twice, not to mention, the pending arrival of Jon Jones to heavyweight.
Still. Blaydes vs. Lewis would set one of the two very, very close to the top of the division. A couple of lesser known heavyweights joined them on the card, as Josh Parisian was finally set to make his UFC debut agaisnt Parker Porter. Parisian had appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series, twice. And The Ultimate Fighter. Quite the wild ride getting to the octagon, really.
The UFC Vegas 15 weigh-in gets underway at 12PM ET. We’ll have full results below.
Just as the weigh-in kicked off, news broke that the main event was off. Curtis Blaydes tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the fight off the card. ESPN first reported the news. Smith vs. Clark has been promoted as the new five-round main event.
