Joaquin Buckley earned his second straight knockout at UFC 255, defeating fellow prospect Jordan Wright in the second round.
Fresh off his Knockout of the Year just last month, Joaquin Buckley returned to the cage against Jordan Wright at UFC 255. Buckley came to the UFC on short-notice earlier this year against Kevin Holland, who defeated him soundly. Then Buckley had his breakout performance against Impa Kasanganay, landing a jumping spin kick knockout after having a kick caught.
Wright was stopped in just 40 seconds on the Contender Series in 2018 by Anthony Hernandez, but the loss was eventually overturned. A huge knee knockout in LFA got Wright a shot at the UFC and he capitalized in his debut, stopping Ike Villanueva in the first round after a bad cut.
Buckley and Wright started off fast, both firing off shots early. Buckley shot into the clinch early, and Wright did a good job of smothering his smaller foe. Buckley shot for the takedown but was quickly stuffed, Buckley then landed a combination going from the body to going upstairs. Buckley was swinging for the bleachers early, and Wright was doing his best to stay out of range of Buckley’s huge power. Buckley landed a huge combination in the final seconds of round one that dropped Wright badly, and Buckley jumped on with a big flurry but Wright just barely survived to see round two.

Buckley started off fast in the opening seconds of round two, and he ended up landing a huge left hook-right hook combination that dropped Wright and finished the fight. Wright came out looking very hurt to start round two, so it was only a matter of time before Buckley cracked him and got the finish.
NOT JUST A ONE HIT WONDER 😳

For the second fight in a row, Joaquin Buckley got a huge knockout win, and one has to wonder just how far this young prospect can go in the middleweight division. The knockout of Wright likely won’t go viral like his last KO, but it is another win over a highly-rated prospect.
