After losing one fight (Saparbek Safarov vs. Julian Marquez) just prior to weigh-in on Friday, UFC Vegas 14 has lost another. On Saturday, Antonio Arroyo announced on social media that opponent Eryk Anders was off the card (via MMA Fighting). Per Arroyo’s cornerman Marcelo Alfaya, Anders was transported to hospital after falling ill.

While the UFC has not officially confirmed the news, official broadcast partner ESPN no longer lists the bout. Instead, it lists a modified six-fight main card, including the following match-ups:

Paul Felder vs. Rafael dos Anjos
Abdul Razak Alhassan vs. Khaos Williams
Ashley Yoder vs. Miranda Granger
Brendan Allen vs. Sean Strickland
Kay Hansen vs. Cory McKenna
Jose Quinonez vs. Louis Smolka

The remaining four fights of what is now a ten-fight card will make of the preliminary portion of the show.

At Friday’s official weigh-in, Anders missed weight by 1.5lbs. However, the middleweight, a former football linebacker with the Alabama Crimson Tide who later played for the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders, was scheduled to move forward in his fight with Antonio Arroyo.

Anders (13-5) is 2-1 in his last three fights. The former LFA middleweight champion was coming off a loss to Krzysztof Jotko heading into UFC Vegas 14. Arroyo (9-3), who has appeared on both the Brazilian and U.S. versions of Dana White’s Contender Series, also lost his last bout, dropping his UFC debut to Andre Muniz a year ago.
