The Bellator 251 card next month has added a co-main event with some heavyweight prospects in action.
On Monday, MMA Junkie was first to report that the event’s co-feature would see Tyrell Fortune take on Titan FC champ Said Sowma. Additionally, a welterweight bout between Derek Anderson and Killys Mota has been added to the card.
Fortune (8-1, 1NC) will look to get back in the win column at the November 5 event. He suffered his first defeat as a professional back in February, when the surging Tim Johnson knocked him out in the first round. The wrestling standout returned in September, fighting UFC vet Jack May. However, the bout ended in a No Contest following an accidental low blow.
After starting his career a perfect 8-0, Fortune now looks to bounce back opposite Sowma (6-1). The Titan FC product will be making his Bellator MMA debut in the fight. With four of six wins coming via stoppage, Sowma himself holds a lot of promise, and at 27 is very young for the division.
Sowma’s only loss came in his debut, against another fighter who now plies his trade with Bellator — Steve Mowry.
Killys Mota (12-1), meanwhile, will look to cash in off his big win over Mandel Nallo with an even bigger opportunity against Derek Anderson (16-3). The Nallo fight was Mota’s debut, after losing to another Bellator star, Austin Vanderford, under the LFA banner. On the other hand, Anderson (16-3) is a Bellator veteran, who will enter the bout on a two-fight win streak, with victories over Guilherme Bomba and Zak Bucia.
Bellator 251 will once again take place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The card airs live on CBS Sports Network.
