Bellator returned stateside on Thursday, heading back to the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. Bellator 249 marked the first title defense for featherweight champion Cris Cyborg, who put her belt on the line against Australia’s Arlene Blencowe.
Also on the card, the likes of Saad Awad, Patricky Pitbull, and Ricky Bandejas.
The four-fight main card was preceded by an rather interesting night of preliminary bouts. Included among them, Christian Edwards, a light heavyweight prospect from Jackson-Wink MMA known as a training partner of Jon Jones, was taking on Hamza Salim, his most experienced opponent to date.
Heavyweight prospect Steve Mowry, meanwhile, was looking to keep his perfect record intact. He was paired off with Shawn Teed, who had shared the cage with UFC alums Juan Adams and Azunna Anyanwu, and who held an early-career win over current UFC heavyweight Chris Daukaus.
