Khamzat “Borz” Chimaev (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC)

Welterweight (170lbs): 1-0 (UFC)

Middleweight (185lbs): 1-0 (UFC)

Khamzat has only been in the UFC for a little over two months but he is already making a huge splash. Khamzat made his UFC debut on July 15 against John Phillips in a bout at middleweight. Khamzat absolutely dominated his opponent on the ground and got a submission finish in the second round.

Then, just 10 days later on July 25th, Khamzat again fought inside the octagon. Chimaev doesn’t have to cut a lot of weight to make 185lbs. But it was still a surprise that this fight was at 170lbs as the Russian had not only stayed on weight after his fight but immediately began making his cut down 15lbs lower after his debut.  Khamzat got a quick but impressive finish over Rhys Mckee. Now for UFC Vegas 11, Khamzat will move back up to middleweight to face Gerald Meerschaert, and with a win could move back down to face Demian Maia in a fight that the UFC has already booked ahead of time.
