With just over a week to go, the UFC’s next PPV card has undergone a slight change. Nate Landwehr is off the UFC 253 card following a positive test for COVID-19. Thankfully, a replacement has already been found in the form of Ludovit Klein.
MMA Junkie’s Nolan King was first to report the news. Young and Landwehr’s pairing was first reported by Cageside Press last month.
Klein also confirmed his addition to the PPV event via social media.
Young (13-4) is currently sitting on a two-fight win streak, but has not competed since February of 2019. Which means ring rust could be a factor come the card on September 26 — if you’re a believer in that sort of thing.
In any case, Young has put together wins over Rolando Dy and Austin Arnett in his last two outings, after starting his UFC career off with a loss to Alexander Volkanovski. Of course, Volkanovski is now the promotion’s featherweight champion, giving that loss a very different feel.
The Slovak Republic’s Klein (16-2) is a newcomer who has recently been competing for Oktagon MMA. He’s a finishing machine, with a number of submissions and stoppages on the feet as well. Klein is currently on a seven-fight win streak.
UFC 253 goes down September 26 on Fight Island (Yas Island) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The card is topped by a middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa, that is brimming with bad blood.
