Invicta FC 42 goes down Thursday night, with a main event that promises to punch above its weight.
Longtime Invicta FC athlete Ashley Cummins will continue her quest for gold, when she takes on standout wrestler Alesha Zappitella, with the promotion’s vacant bantamweight title on the line. The title is up for grabs after former champ Jinh Yu Frey both missed weight for a title fight, then moved over to the UFC earlier this year.
Cummins, who was part of that title bout with Frey back in February, gets another chance to claim gold on Thursday. The 33-year old had won two straight prior to going up against Frey.
At Wednesday’s weigh-in for Invicta FC 42, two fights were lost due to positive COVID-19 tests. However, one wound up being salvaged, at least in part. Jennifer Chieng was supposed to face Flore Hani. While Hani is out, back-up fighter Helen Peralta stepped in for a catchweight bout with Chieng.
