Bobby Green was simply too much for Alan Patrick at UFC Vegas 10, using his wrestling and superior striking to cruise to a unanimous decision.
Bobby Green looked to continue his career resurgence at UFC Vegas 10 as a short notice opponent against Alan Patrick. Since coming out of retirement in November, Green lost to Francisco Trinaldo, but has beat both Clay Guida and Lando Vannata since July, taking home a Fight of the Night in the latter. Green has been with the promotion since 2013.
Patrick has also been with the UFC since 2013, but has six fewer fights than Green. He has, however, been more successful with a 5-2 record compared to Green’s 7-5-1 record.
Alan Patrick rushed in and was immediately put on his back by Bobby Green, who got into half guard. Patrick got to his feet, but Green stayed on him and threw him to the ground into side control. Again, Patrick got up but was thrown down again by Green. Patrick threw up his legs and attempted a submission, but Green spun out into half guard. Some ground-and-pound came in from Green and Patrick was able to stand up and blitz to the end of the round.
Patrick rushed out with a combination and a takedown attempt and Green spun him around. They broke apart, then Green secured another takedown from the clinch. Green was peppering Patrick with ground-and-pound from open guard, but was forced to stand up after a submission attempt by Patrick. There was another brief clinch, then the fighters separated. Patrick was simply out of range on his strikes. Green was walking confidently then caused Patrick to stumble with a combination. Green capped off the round with a kick to the body.
Patrick rushed in to start the third round and was again thrown down by Green into side control. Patrick spun to all fours and was able to stand up. Green smoothly avoided the strikes of Patrick and clocked him with a counter right hand. Green clinched with Patrick briefly, then separated and landed a few counter strikes while backing up. Patrick kept pursuing and landed a head kick, then forced Green to drop down. Green continued to land straight punches and a right cross cracked Patrick. Green landed a few more jabs to cap off a great performance.
