Undefeated lightweights Cameron Church and Sherrard Blackledge will look for a UFC contract during an upcoming Dana White’s Contender Series event.
Dana White’s Contender Series’ fourth season has been underway for a few weeks now, and so far the UFC has signed 16 new fighters. In week one, Cameron Church was supposed to take on Luke Flores. Unfortunately, Church had to withdraw from the fight. Church announced on social media that he will get another shot on DWCS on September 8. Sources confirmed to Cageside Press that Church will be fighting Sherrard Blackledge.
Hailing from Tracy, California, Cameron Church currently lives in South Lake Tahoe. He trains out of a local gym in Escobar Training Grounds. Church put together a 5-0 amateur record finishing every fight inside two rounds. Even as an amateur, Church won the KOTC lightweight title. Now as a pro, Church is currently 4-0.
Church has only been fighting as a pro for a little over a year and has already put together a 4-0 record. Fighting mainly for the WFC promotion, his last outing was with Combate Americas. Like he was as an amateur, Church has a 100% finish rate as a pro. The 29-year-old is 9-0 combined overall.
Across from Church will also be a 4-0 record with the name of Sherrard Blackledge. Located in Las Vegas, “The Thriller” is a product of Syndicate MMA. Being 4-0 as a pro, he was 7-1 as an amateur, ending his ammy career on a five-fight win streak.
As a pro, Blackledge has notably fought for Island Fights a promotion out of Florida aired on UFC Fight Pass. The 27-year-old will be making the move back down to 155 from 170 for this fight.
