The UFC’s fall schedule is starting to take shape, and one of the latest additions is a key lightweight battle.
Per a report by Ag.Fight, the surging Charles Oliveira is set to take on Beneil Dariush. The pair are expected to meet on October 3. No location or name/designation is currently available for the show, although the UFC did announce on Saturday that it will be headlined by women’s bantamweights Irene Aldana and Holly Holm.
Given the timeframe of the event, however, there is a strong possibility that it will take place during the promotion’s return to “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi.
Oliveira (29-8, 1NC) is on the best run of his UFC career. “Do Bronx” hold’s the promotion’s submission record, and has won seven straight bouts in a stacked lightweight division. That streak includes wins over Nik Lentz, Kevin Lee, Jim Miller, and Clay Guida, among others.
That sort of run has Oliveira on the verge of title contention, and in nearly any other division, he’d already be there.
Dariush (19-4-1) has won five straight fights of his own, a streak that includes three Performance of the Night bonuses. The only blemish in that span came in his most recent bout, a knockout win over Scott Holtzman. Dariush missed weight for the fight.
