Strawweight contenders Michelle Waterson and Angela Hill will have to wait a little bit longer for their upcoming showdown.
Originally booked as part of the UFC on ESPN 15 card on August 22, Waterson vs. Hill has been pushed back. The fight will now go down on September 12, a move first reported by BJPenn.com. No official reason has been given for the delay.
Hill (12-8) recently had a three-fight win streak snapped when she lost a split decision against Claudia Gadelha at at UFC Florida back in May. The former Invicta FC champ was been one of the sport’s busiest fighters over the past year or so, hitting the six-fight mark in the shortest period of time in UFC history.
Prior to the Gadelha loss, Hill had racked up wins over Ariane Carnelossi, Hannah Cifers, and Loma Lookboonmee.
Waterson (17-8), herself a former Invicta FC champ in the atomweight division, will look to shake off a two-fight slump against Hill. She’s dropped fights to Carla Esparza and Joanna Jedrzejczyk in her last two outings, both former 115lb champions in the UFC.
Prior to that, Waterson had built up a three-fight win streak of her own.
The UFC’s September 12 event is expected to feature the following match-ups:
Roxanne Modafferi vs. Andrea Lee
Matt Schnell vs. Tyson Nam
Tagir Ulanbekov vs. Bruno Gustavo da Silva
Frank Camacho vs. Brok Weaver
Kyle Nelson vs. Billy Quarantillo
Bryan Barberena vs. Anthony Ivy
Roosevelt Roberts vs. Matt Frevola
Alan Patrick vs. Rodrigo Vargas
Angela Hill vs. Michelle Waterson
