When Friday morning rolls around for those of us in the western hemisphere, it will be time for the fourth and final weigh-in on Fight Island. UFC Fight Island 3 (preceded by a PPV and two other Fight Night cards) is the swan song on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, at last for now.
As a send-off, it’s pretty stacked, with something for everyone. In the main event, a very meaningful middleweight fight, between former champ Robert Whittaker, and welterweight ex-pat Darren Till. A lot of marbles are on the line, as a title shot could come with the win. And if not, the chance of one in the not-too-distant future.
In the co-main event, a throwback fight. Two PRIDE-era legends, throwing down for the third time. Shogun. Lil Nog. Men infamous enough that proper names are not required.
And then there’s the debut at heavyweight of Alexander Gustafsson, back from retirement and taking on a former champion in Fabricio Werdum. Immediately before them, another former UFC champion, Carla Esparza, meets Marina Rodriguez in an important strawweight fight.
A lot to take in, before the UFC sets sail back to Nevada.

Only one fighter came in heavy at Friday’s weigh-in. Francisco Trinaldo, who had never missed weight previously in the UFC, was 4lbs over for his lightweight bout against Jai Herbert.
