Wish Granted. Khazmat Chimaev wanted a quick turnaround after an impressive performance at UFC Fight Island 1. And he has just that. On Saturday night, the UFC announced that Chimaev would return at UFC Fight Island 3.
That’s on July 25. A grand total of ten days sit between Chimaev’s debut and his second fight, not including the end date. Which is setting him up for a chance at a UFC record, that being the shortest time between wins.
The man looking to spoil that will be promotional newcomer Rhys McKee.
Ireland’s McKee (10-2-1) is a former BAMMA champion and Cage Warriors athlete who figured to feature large in their return to action this September. Instead, he’s setting sail for Fight Island, looking to make it four wins in a row.
Chimaev (7-0), a veteran of Brave CF, submitted John Phillips by D’Arce choke at UFC Fight Island 1. He turned heads by calling out Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone after the fight, and by campaigning for a quick turnaround. Not to mention his Khabib-like desire to “smash” opponents.
UFC Fight Island 3 is headlined by middleweight action featuring former 185lb champ Robert Whittaker against Darren Till. The card to date can be found below.
