The UFC has set a women’s bantamweight battle between Sijara Eubanks and Macy for September 5.
Two Ultimate Fighter alumni. From two different seasons. Both appearing on the show in different weight classes than they compete in today.
It’s an interesting journey that has brought Eubanks and Chiasson here. ESPN was first to report the booking.
Eubanks (5-4) appeared on The Ultimate Fighter 26 in 2017. That’s the season that introduced the women’s flyweight division to the UFC. Eubanks went all the way, but when it came time to fight for the title in the finale, medical complications stemming from her weight cut saw her pulled from the card.
Her weight cutting struggles led her to the bantamweight division, where she had competed, at times, outside of the UFC. She’s 1-2 since returning to 135lbs, picking up a much-needed win last time out against Sarah Moras. Overall, Eubanks is 3-2 inside the octagon.
Chiasson (6-1) won The Ultimate Fighter 28 in 2018. That was the final season of the show to date. Competing at featherweight, she immediately dropped to bantamweight, and has run up a record of 4-1 under the UFC banner to date. Her only loss came to Lina Lansberg at UFC Copenhagen last year.
The UFC’s September 5 card does not have an official event title or numbering. However, it is expected to be headlined by heavyweight action between Alistair Overeem and Augusto Sakai.
