Following Stephanie Geltmacher being forced out of her bout against Erin Blanchfield, Brogan Sanchez will step in at Invicta FC 41 on short notice.
Invicta FC 41 is only a few short weeks away, but the card just got a shakeup. The co-main event of the card was originally scheduled to be Stephanie Geltmacher taking on the Erin Blanchfield. However, Geltmacher has since pulled out of the fight, leaving Blanchfield opponent-less. She wasn’t without a foe for long, though, as Invicta has announced via press release that Brogan Sanchez will step into the co-main event to take on Erin Blanchfield.
Sanchez was last seen in action in the main event of Invicta FC 37, where she came up short to former UFC veteran Pearl Gonzalez. She is looking to rebound after her first career loss, and earn another victory over another highly regarded Invicta prospect in Blanchfield. Sanchez notably has wins over Miranda Maverick and Cheri Muraski inside the Invicta cage as well.
Blanchfield on the other hand is coming off an amazing head kick knockout over Victoria Leonardo earlier this year. Blanchfield is currently 5-1 in her short career, with the sole loss to current UFC mainstay Tracy Cortez. A win here will likely thrust Blanchfield into the title conversation, or possibly even a call-up to the UFC.
The main event of Invicta FC 41 is a battle of strawweight contenders in Brazil’s Janaisa Morandin, who once challenged for the title, and Mexico’s Monserrat Ruiz. The card takes place Thursday, July 30 in Kansas City, Kansas. The event will stream live and exclusively on UFC Fight Pass at 7 p.m. CT. Once again, the card will air behind closed doors, without fans and media. All fighters on the card will be tested for COVID-19 prior to the bout. It is Invicta FC’s second event since the COVID-19 Pandemic has begun earlier this year.
