Flyweight action is the latest addition to season four of the Contender Series, and it will feature Fury FC flyweight champ Jacob Silva against Jeffrey Molina.
Dana White’s Contender Series is back for its fourth season starting next month. The show is expected to run August to September — with the first event going down on August 4. For this latest bout, sources have confirmed to Cageside Press that Molina (7-2) will take on Silva (6-2) in a flyweight bout. The fight is set to happen on August 25.
Jeffrey Molina is originally from Jackson, New Jersey, and currently resides in Kansas. There, he trains out of Glory MMA and Fitness behind owner James Krause. That has him training with the likes of Grant Dawson, Tim Elliott, Meagan Anderson, and others. Since his last loss in late 2017, Molina is now on a six-fight win streak.
Most impressive, the 7-2 Molina boasts a 100% finish rate. He holds four wins by submission and the other three by TKO. He’s the former Victory FC flyweight amateur champion. The 22-year-old made his LFA debut last September, having an impressive showing taking out Chancey Wilson by submission.
While Molina is looking to impress Dana White and the matchmakers, so is his opponent Jacob Silva. Fighting out of Houston, Texas Silva trains with the likes of Mana Martinez and Adrian Yanez who also are competing on the Contender Series this Summer. “Lil Animal” is 6-2 with a 100% finish rate as well.
Jacob Silva made his pro debut in late 2014. He would go on to lose his first two fights. Silva would then rebound and proceed to win his next six fights. In the process, he would become a two-time Fury FC flyweight champion.
