Another short notice newcomer was in action Saturday night at UFC on ESPN 11. After Matt Frevola was pulled from the card due to a cornerman testing positive for COVID-19, Justin Jaynes stepped up to fill in, on the strength of a four-fight win streak on the regional circuit. His opponent, Frank Camacho, was known for knockout power and wildly entertaining fights.
It was a recipe for an explosive finish. And it produced just that.
Right away both men went out and got at it. It was Jaynes who started landing bombs in the pocket, beating Frank “The Crank” Camacho to the punch. Jaynes doubled up on a left hook, dropping Camacho. As Camacho got back up Jaynes kept winging big right and left hooks, landing flush on the chin. That wound up sending the ref in as Camacho was basically out on his feet. Herb Dean waved it off, and Jaynes, bloodied from a clash of heads in the exchange, had his first UFC win.
Quite the coming out party.

Speaking to UFC play-by-play man Jon Anik after the fight, Jaynes said “I showed up, I blow’d up,” clearly thrilled with his performance. As he should be. An incredible start to his UFC career.
