Danaa Batgerel picks up first UFC victory with first-round knock out of Guido Cannetti.
UFC 248 went down in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night — and was kicked off by bantamweight action on the early preliminary card. That bout featured Argentina’s Guido Cannetti looking to bounce back from a loss against Marlon Vera in 2018. In his first trip to the octagon in over a year, Cannetti would be facing Mongolian Danaa Batgerel. A veteran of Legend FC and MGL, Batgerel was in search of his first win inside the octagon.
Here is how the action went down
Round 1:
Cannetti came out in the southpaw stance and immediately tripped Batgerel with a low kick. The Mongolian fighter popped back to his feet and started to fire off punches of his own. Both men bit down on their mouthpieces and fired off some hard haymakers. When Cannetti threw an inside leg kick, the Asian fighter timed a crushing right hand that snapped his adversary’s head back. Canetti circled the perimeter of the cage while Batgerel pressed forward. The fighter from Argentina kept attacking with leg kicks but was getting picked apart with hard punches. Cannetti lunged in to throw a punch and was suddenly crushed with a perfectly timed left hook that sent Cannetti crashing to the canvas. Storm followed up with a few ground strikes until the referee pulled him off Cannetti, giving him a first-round TKO victory.

The win improved Batgerel’s professional record to 8-2 and 1-1 in the UFC. The Mongolian fighter was on the wrong side of a unanimous decision to Heili Alateng at UFC Shenzhen back in August 2019. Cannetti’s professional record fell to 8-5 and 2-4 in the UFC. This was his first fight in 17-months. He has now lost back to back fights.
Official Result: Danaa Batgerel def. Guido Cannetti by TKO, Round 1, 3:01
