Fresh off a rarely-seen twister submission win, Bryce Mitchell looks set to face Charles Rosa at UFC Oklahoma City in May.
2019’s Submission of the Year winner, Bryce Mitchell, will return to the octagon in Oklahoma City. BJPenn.com was first to report the news that Mitchell vs. Charles Rosa was being targeted for the Fight Night card. The featherweight pair have bantered back-and-forth on social media previously, making this a situation of fighters essentially booking themselves.
Which is always a smart idea in this day and age.
Following the initial report, Mitchell hinted at the booking, saying fight news would be coming soon.

Mitchell (12-0) joined the UFC off The Ultimate Fighter 27, which featured a roster made up entirely of undefeated fighters. Mitchell would lose to eventual season winner Brad Katona, but upon arriving in the big show himself, he’s remained perfect. Mitchell is 3-0 inside the octagon, most recently defeating Matt Sayles via twister at UFC DC in December.
That performance by the 25-year old from Arkansas certainly turned some heads.
Rosa (12-3) will enter the fight off a win over an oversized Manny Bermudez at UFC Boston. A Massachusetts native, the 33-year old has been trading wins and losses since joining the UFC in 2014, going 3-3 in that span. It’s worth noting, however, that a severe neck injury kept Rosa on the sidelines for roughly 30 months from 2018 until October 2019 when he returned against Bermudez.
UFC Oklahoma City (UFC Fight Night 174) takes place May 2, 2020 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The card is expected to be headlined by Chris Weidman and Jack Hermansson.
